Field Trips at Children’s Hands-On Museum are AWESOME!
Our ALABAMA COURSE of STUDY Curriculum Based Field Trips are the most exciting in the state! Now in our 25th year, CHOM has long had close ties to education. Thanks to the Tuscaloosa City School System, we continue to create and develop the most innovative field trips that your students will ever have a chance to experience. Our field trips are revised annually to ensure that all remain exciting and have AL C.O.S. Correlations. Highly qualified educators, 21 hands-on exhibits, a separate field trip level with 5 classrooms and a large demonstration area all mean your students participate in true hands-on learning experiences not available in a traditional classroom setting!

Field Trip Admissions effective September 28, 2009:
Tuscaloosa City Schools - $5 per student
Student groups within Tuscaloosa County - $6 per student
Student groups outside of Tuscaloosa County - $7 per student

Exhibit Experiences: PreK – 5th
Bring your class to CHOM for the BEST in field trip explorations! Design your own Exhibit Experience by choosing up to five of CHOM’s permanent exhibits for exploration with guidance by our fabulous educators. Pre-K visits last 1 hour and are scheduled for Fridays. K-5th grade visits last 1 ½ hours and are scheduled for Monday through Thursday. Limit 50 students.
In-Depth Experiences: Pre-K
CHOM provides hands-on excitement and unforgettable learning opportunities developed especially for the
Pre-K age group. Our Pre-K In-Depth Experiences are available Fridays at 9:00 and 10:30. Program topics include the arts, social studies, sciences, and technology. Each Pre-K program lasts 1 hour. Limit 20 students.
In-Depth Experiences: K – 2nd
CHOM provides unique and exciting hands-on learning for this age group. In-Depth Experiences are
curriculum-based programs in the arts, social studies, sciences, and technology. In-Depth Experiences correspond directly to the Alabama Course of Study, with correlations to the SAT 10 and AMSTI. Each program lasts 1.5 hours. Limit 20 students per session, unless otherwise noted in our guide.
DYNAMIC Demonstrations! 3rd – 5th
Dynamic Demonstrations correspond directly to the Alabama Course of Study, with correlations to the SAT 10, and AMSTI. Perfect for either small or large groups, these demonstrations offer the ultimate in learning excitement for these grades. Van de Graff generators, human “batteries”, solar energy, chemical or physical reactions, and giant simple machines and inclined planes make science, physics and electricity pop!
Limited to 60 students, each program lasts 1 hour.
